If you found yourself near Chatham railway station you would immediately notice the Alexandra Hotel – it is right in the middle of a roundabout. The imposing three-storey building has sat on the main route to Maidstone for the past 200 years.
When planners wanted to improve the town’s transport links they simply built around it. The building, with its original chimneys and balconies, is a draw for commuters, being just 100 yards from the station, as well as the local community.
It hosts weekly quiz nights and live music every Sunday, while its separate function room is regularly used by several groups.
